Welcome to DistanceDates!
This is a platform developed by business student Gianna Landretti, who has been in a long distance relationship for most of college. Gianna met her boyfriend on social media through a mutual friend during her freshman year of college. After months of talking, it worked out for them to finally meet, and they have been dating ever since. Although they see each other about once a month, Gianna noticed that she and her boyfriend were missing out on going on fun dates like when they are together. To try and bridge the gap between visits, they began to find fun things to do virtually, such as playing online games, watching the same show, and having countdowns to seeing each other. One day, Gianna realized that there isn’t a platform to have all of these things in one place. Thus sparked DistanceDates.
DistanceDates will eventually be a virtual dates platform, where long distance couples can connect and plan online dates. There will be a lot of layers to this, with options for everyone, no matter age, interests, budget, etc. While this aspect of the website is still in the works, Gianna is going to connect with you through blogs and social media to provide information and receive your feedback, which will help ensure this platform includes everyone.
One type of date that we are going to offer is a cooking night. This option will include a recipe that couples can pre-select and cook together on a video call. We are hoping to have a diverse menu, because there are so many amazing recipes from different cultures and backgrounds. Currently, you can send in your favorite meal, drink, or dessert recipes to have a chance at being included in our menu (see ‘Send a Recipe’ in the top menu). We would love to hear what you and your partner like to make for each other or together.
We also want to go beyond cooking dates to ensure there are virtual date options for everyone. Even before DistanceDates offers date packages, there will be blogs about alternative options for your favorite types of dates that you and your partner can do on your own. There will be focus on the 5 Love Languages and 16 Personality Types, because it is important for you and your partner to understand how the other feels loved. We will also highlight activity dates, since those are hard to do virtually. To have a say in the types of dates these blogs will discuss, you can fill out the ‘Favorite Dates’ form, located in the top menu, to submit your favorite dates to go on in person. This will help us get creative with alternative options!
Even though our main focus is long distance, we are publishing insightful blogs that cover topics such as the 5 Love Languages and the 16 Personality Types (mentioned above), the importance of going on dates, and how money doesn’t always equal effort, which are relevant to all couples. If you or a loved one lives close to your partner you can still check out our blogs about these things that can enhance any relationship. It is helpful to try to understand your partner on a deeper level, and that is one of the missions of DistanceDates.
Thank you so much for checking out our website. We know distance can make it hard to consistently keep the spark alive. We hope to provide some assistance in maintaining that connection when you and your partner are miles apart. Please sign up for our weekly email list and connect with us via social media and the forms at the top of our page!
